There are 3 series, the top of the line WT50 (47" and 55") and the DT50, both featurnig active-shutter 3D. The ET5 series (42", 47" and 55") has less features and passive 3D. We do not have any pricing information or release date for any of these TVs...
The Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative launchedBack in August, Sony, Panasonic and Samsung announced a new initiative to standardize active 3D glasses called the Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative. Now this initiative has launched. The wireless protocols included in this standard are RF and IR and these glasses will be compatible the XPanD 3D standard. Compatible glasses and sets will show the logo displayed below.
Twelve companies said they will support the new standard - Changhong Electric, FUNAI Electric, Hisense, Hitachi, Mitsubishi, Philips, Seiko Epson, Sharp, SIM2 Multimedia, TCL, Toshiba and ViewSonic. The companies setup a test center that will verify compliance of products with the initiative's specifications.
Panasonic - study shows that most consumers prefer 3D TV to 2D TVA new study says that most consumers believe that 3D TV provides a far more satisfying viewing experience than regular (2D) TV. The survey was carried out by independent market research firm Frank N. Magid Associates on behalf of Japanese consumer electronics manufacturer Panasonic. The study was conducted at the Disney’s D23 Expo and covered more than 500 attendees. 99% of those who've seen a 3D TV said it was "somewhat better" than standard TV. 71% said it was "dramatically better".
The Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative formedBack in January 2011 Samsung announced that it has formed an alliance for Active-Shutter 3D TV technology - with Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Haier and Changhong. Today we hear that Panasonic, Sony, Samsung and XpanD formed a new standard called the "Full HD 3D Glasses Initiative" - which aims to create a universal active 3D glasses standard that uses RF, Infrared and Bluetooth. The group says it will begin producing glasses based on the standard in September, and will make it available for licensing.

It seems that now there are several standards emerging for 3D glasses: The CEA just announced it is planning a standard of its own, and Samsung have decided to use Bluetooth in their new 3D TVs... hopefully all those standard won't mean a fragmented active 3D market...

Panasonic announces their 2011 Plasma 3D TV lineupPanasonic announced their 2011 Plasma active-shutter 3D TV lineup. There are 3 series: the Top-of-the range VT30, the GT30 and the budget ST30. Sizes range from 42" to 65", and the TVs offer new Black-2 panels, new designs, Full-HD, Viera-Connect and more. All those TVs will be available by Spring 2011.
