3DTV broadcastsChina's first 3D TV channel launchedChina's first 3D TV channel was launched yesterday. This is a pilot channel, and it requires a 3D TV of course, and a new HD set top box. As it's still in trail mode, the new channel is free. It will offer all sorts of 3D programs (including animation, sports, documentaries, TV dramas, entertainment and live broadcasts of big events). The channel is operated by CCTV.
Comcast's Xfinity 3D channel now broadcasting, they served over 1 million 3D VODsUS's Comcast network launched their 24/7 3D channel called Xfinity. The company also announced they served over a million 3D shows/movies via VOD.
The 3Net 24/7 3D channel is now live in the US on DirecTVSony, Imax and Discovery announced that their joint 24/7 3D channel called 3net is now live on DirecTV. This is the third 24h 3D channel in the US (there's n3D and ESPN3D). The three companies announced their collaboration over a year ago, so it's good to see it happen now!
EPSN 3D channel not making any moneyESPN say that they aren't making any money from their 3D channel (launched in June 2010). In fact, their senior directory of Technology says "We're still not sure what makes sense for 3DTV". In any case, ESPN is preparing next year's 3D program and aren't giving up on 3D sports. via Dvice
Sky launches their 3D TV channelUK's Sky has launched their 3D TV channel - broadcasting 14 hours of 3D daily. It will broadcast all sorts of programs - including movies and sports. It is included in Sky's top-end World-HD package. via Engadget
