SharpOrange to distribute Sharp's Android 3D phones in Asia and EuropeOrange announced that it will distribute Sharp's SH-12C Android 3D phone in Asia and Europe - and will rebrand it as Sharp Aquos SH-80F. France will be the first country to get it in early October. The SH-80F offers a 4.2" glasses-free 3D display (qHD 540x960 resolution), 8mp/720p 3D camera (dual lens) and Android 2.3.
Top five TV panel makers increase 3D TV production, expect penetration to reach 10-20%The top-five panel makers (Samsung, LG Display, AUO, CMI and Sharp) are increasing 3D TV panel production as they expect 3D TV penetration to reach 10-20% by the end of 2011. In fact CMI targets 20% 3D TV shipments, AUO predicts 'more than 10%" and Samsung, LGD and Sharp predict 3D TVs to reach 10%-20% of all TV shipments.
Samsung forms an alliance for Active-Shutter 3DSamsung announced that it has formed an alliance for Active-Shutter 3D TV technology - with Sony, Panasonic, Sharp, Haier and Changhong. Sharp to release 3D-phones in the US, China and India in 2011Sharp announced that they plan to release phones with autostereoscopic (glasses-free) 3D display in the US, China and India in 2011. Sharp announced two Android 3D phones for Japan's Softbank network: The Galapagos 003SH and 005SH, and another one (The LYNX SH-03C) for NTT DoCoMo. All of these phones has a 3.8" multi-touch 3D glass-free display (Sharp's own Parallax-Barrier display). We assume that the overseas phones will use the same display.
Sharp announces two 3D phones for Japan's Softbank networkJapan's Softbank network has announced two new 3D mobile phones from Sharp: The Galapagos 003SH and 005SH. Both phones has a 3.8" multi-touch 3D glass-free display (Sharp's own Parallax-Barrier display). Both phones feature Android (v2.2), 1Ghz processor, Wi-Fi and GPS. The 003SH has a 9.6Mp camera (can record 720p videos) while the 005SH is a QWERTY slider with a 8mp camera.
