Sony's 3D monitor is a 24" active-shutter LED-backlit LCD that comes bundled with a pair of 3D glasses (charged via USB) and a PS3 game (MotorStorm Apocalypse). The monitor has two HTMI inputs, integrated speakers and subwoofer and quad speed frame sequential display technology. The monitor also supports SimulView - which allows two players to each see a different image on the screen. This is great news as previously we thought that the release date will be December 31st.
LG introduces Dual-Play technology for Cinema 3D TVsLG announced it will deploy a new technology for it's Cinema range of 3D TVs, which will allow two players to each see a different 2D image. This is similar to Sony's SimulView (as used in their upcoming Pllaystation 3D monitor) - although LG are using passive 3D technology and not active one like Sony does. The first TV to sport this new technology is LG's LW980T 3D TV.

Nintendo drops the price of the 3DS to $169 in the USNintendo announced that it will drop the price of the 3DS on August 12th - from $249 to $169. Other regions will also get a discount. If you already have a 3DS, Nintendo offers 10 free NES virtual games and 10 more Gamy Boy Advance virtual games.
Nintendo sued for 3D display patent violation on the 3DSMr. Seikiro Tomita filed a lawsuit against Nintendo - for violating a patent (#7,417,664) related to the glasses-free 3D Display on the 3DS. The patent is titled "Stereoscopic image picking up and display system based upon optical axes cross-point information". Mr. Tomita used to work for Sony, but he filed this patent (and others) after leaving the company.
Nintendo sold 1 million 3DS units in Japan, is disappointedNintendo announced they have sold 1 million 3DS consoles in Japan since the launch 13 weeks ago. Nintendo are disappointed by that and they say that the 3DS isn't living up to expectations. Just to compare, Sony's PSP sold a million units in seven weeks.
