Futuresource predicts that by 2015 over 50% of TV sold will be 3D enabled

Futuresource Consulting analyst John Bird says that by 2015, the "majority of TVs available will be 3D-ready". This means that a "good proportion' of households in US, EU and Japan will have a 3D TV. The same goes for 3D Blu-ray: it'll be hard to find a player that does not support 3D.

LG's LX9500 3D TV to ship on the 2nd week of May?

LG's upcoming HDTV range document was leaked, and according to it LG's 3D LX9500 HDTV will ship in the second week of may. This 55" LED LCD supports 480Hz.

The document also contained information about a LG LX6500 which will also offer 3D but will be cheaper, and the BG850, a 3D Blu-ray player.

Avatar to be released on Blu-ray 3D in November

James Cameron said in an interview that Avatar will be released on DVD & Blu-ray in 22nd of April, and Blu-ray 3D version will arrive in November.

The PS3 will get 3D support this summer

A few months ago we reported that Sony is planning to add 3D support to the PS3. Now they say that it will happen this summer, together with the release of Sony's 3D LCDs. The PS3 will get a firmware upgrade that will enable it to play 3D stereoscopic games and 3D Blu-ray movies.

Sony may release old movies in 3D Blu-ray, projects $15 billion in 3D hardware sales in 2013

Sony says that they may start selling 3D Blu-ray discs with 3D versions of old movies from their archive. Sony says that they'll start next year, if they can do it with 'good effects'. Sony projects around $15.5 billion in sales of 3D products (TVs and Playstations, probably) in 2013.

Panasonic unveiled their Blu-ray 3D advanced authoring center in Hollywood

Panasonic unveiled their fully operational Blu-ray 3D Advanced Authoring Center located at Panasonic's R&D facility, Hollywood. They have upgraded the center with the latest 3D technologies based on the new Blu-ray 3D standard. The center offers studios and filmmakers to make Blu-ray 3D discs, 3D video encoding and authoring.

The Samsung BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray player will cost $400

Samsung has released the price of their upcoming BD-C6900 3D Blu-ray player - 400$. The player is compatible with the 3D Blu-ray standard, and Samsung's own 3D displays.
