Sony: 30-50% of our new TVs will be 3D enabled by 2013
11/27/2009
We already know that Sony is very up-beat on 3D TVs, and is betting on the new technology for its return to profitability. Now Sony says that a third to half of their TVs will have 3D features by the March 2013. Sony wants to earn around $11 Billion a year from 3D related products by the same time. Sony thinks that 3D will be most fun when playing games, and Sony has a big advantage because of the PlayStation (which is also getting 3D support soon via a firmware upgrade). Sony is also planning an upgrade to their OLED TVs with a bigger set. Having their own technology is very important to Sony right now (they are buying LCD panels from Samsung).
