Sky broadcasted the first 3D major sporting event.Yesterday UK's Sky has broadcasted the world's first major sporting event in 3D. It was a football match (Arsenal vs. Man United in London). The Times reports that it was very impressive and a great experience. Sky used a lot of graphics used throughout the game to enhance the 3D experience. One thing they notice is that the camera needs to be very close to the field in order to actually see 3D images. Sky used passive 3D technology, using polarizing glasses. The actual 3D programming that Sky plans will support both active and passive systems.
