While most companies are into active-shutter 3D TVs, LG is also looking at passive polarized based 3D TVs. They have partnered with Vizio and Amtran Technology to promote the technology. Digitimes says that prices are expected to drop fast for polarized panels, which will make the technology mainstream in 2011.The main problem with active-shutter is the price of the glasses which are very expensive. Passive glasses are very cheap, but the technology suffers from poor brightness and high panel costs.
