Nintendo's 3DS to launch on March 27 and cost $249.99

Nintendo announced today that the 3DS console will be released in the US in March 27, and will cost $249.99. It will actually be released a couple of days earlier in Europe, and the price will be decided by retailers. Nintendo promises more than 30 games for the US launch.

The 3DS has two display: the top is a 3.53" glasses-free 3D display featuring 800x240 resolution (or 400x240 for each eye, really). The bottom display is a 3.02" touch 2D LCD.

Actually, I think it is the other way around. The top LCD only displays 400x240, so in 2D mode that would be the display resolution. Now in 3D mode the system is rendering an 800x240 image (rendering it twice to create the 3D effect) and displaying them on the screen in the parallax 3D setup. I seriously wish that the top screen was 800x240! Graphics would be MUCH more crisp than a measly 400x240... :(
