Mitsubishi offers a free software update to 738/838 DLP TVs to support 3D HDMI 1.4a

Mitsubishi's software update for the 738 and 838 series of DLP TVs is now ready for a free download. The update upgrades the HDMI input to 1.4a which fully supports 3D signals: so you don't need an adapter.

If your 738/838 TV is connected to the internet, it'll be automatically updated. Otherwise you can download it from Mitsubishi's site and update via a USB stick.



The medium-range 738 series include StreamTV (internet applications streaming, including Pandora, Flickr, Picasa and others) and offers an optional Wi-Fi adapter. The TVs support full-HD (1080p), 3 HDMI ports and 2 component/composite inputs. The 60" (WD-60738) costs $1,324, the 65" (WD-65738 ) costs $1,699, the 73" (WD-73738 ) costs for $2,099 and the 82" (WD-82738) costs $2,849.

The top-of-the-line 838 TVs include StreamTV (internet applications streaming, including Pandora, Flickr, Picasa and others). It offers an optional Wi-Fi adapter and 16 speakers built-in for ISP surround sound. The TVs support full-HD (1080p), 3 HDMI ports and 2 component/composite inputs. The 65" (WD-65838) costs $2,199, the 73" (WD-73838) costs $2,389 and the 82" (WD-82838) costs $3,669.
