Fastest 3D motion-hologram developed, holographic 3D TVs predicted within 7-10 years

Researchers from the University of Arizona have developed the fastest 3D motion hologram - which can refresh once every 2 seconds. The refresh rate is not good enough for video obviously, but they say that within 7-10 years or so refresh rates will increase and pave the way for holographic TV.

To create the hologram image, the team used 16 cameras on a single object. The hologram is created using a laser on a plastic screen. The plastic then reacts chemically to the laser and thus the image is 'stored' on the display. A different beam of light illuminates the plastic and so the image is shown.

The team is also working to create holographic-video on a tabletop, where the laser and light will shine from beneath the table.
